Additional incorrect Activity master created on Document Stencil

On drawings created from some templates/stencils, a spurious Activity master is added to the Document Stencil when an Activity is first added to a drawing. That Activity shape is based on the extra Activity master, not the already-existing one, despite 'match master by name on drop' being set. Drawings that contain Activities based on this extra master are corrupted easily.

The problem can be produced as follows:
1 .Create a new drawing
        Node = n1
        Activity = a1
        Deliverables = d1, d2
        Connections: d1 to a1 to d2

2. Save and close.

3. Open in Process Navigator.

The cause of this is that Visio 2003 and 2007 appear to ignore Match Master by Name on Drop unless the document's stencil window is opened before a new shape is instanced. To see this, repeat the above steps but this time prior to dropping the shapes, select File > Shapes > Show Document Stencil. The stencil need not remain open, it merely needs to be opened at some point. When it is opened, the above problems do not happen.

Version 4.62.14 and later of Process Navigator automatically open and close the Document stencil when a map is being opened. This appears to resolve the problem.
Applies to:
  • Process Navigator 4.60, 4.61, 4.62
  • Visio 2003
  • Visio 2007
