Multiple connectors connect to single connection point after Excel Export/Import

Ref: SS 201105311357
Defect ID: 2633370
Last Edited:  August 18th, 2011

Fixed in PN 12.2

Description:

A Deliverable has four connection points on one side which are connected to four different Activities using the Deliverable's Properties dialog. When exporting this map to Excel and importing it back again, all the connectors which were connected to four different connection points are now connected to a single connection point on the Deliverable.

In order to reproduce the issue, repeat the following steps:

  1. Create a new map.
  2. Drop a Deliverable.
  3. Drop four Activities.
  4. Right-click on the Deliverable > Properties.
  5. Connect each Activity to the Deliverable by adding each to the Customers list.
  6. Click OK to close the dialog.
  7. Increase the number of connection points on the right-hand side of the Deliverable to four.
  8. Connect each connector to separate connection points on the Deliverable.
  9.  Auto-Layout the shapes.
  10. Save the map.
  11.  Close Visio.
  12. Open Triaster Process Navigator.
  13. Load the map.
  14. Export to a single Excel file.
  15. Import from Excel from the Excel file that was created in the above step.
  16. Open the map created.
All four connectors which were connected to separate connection points in the original map are now connected to one.

Cause:
Errors in connection point handling.

Workaround:
Users should be aware of this issue, although it is purely cosmetic and should be addressed in a future release.

 Applies to:
  • Process Navigator 12.1.1 and earlier
