Error: Unhandled Exception when Displaying Connection Points Tab on Deliverable Properties Dialog

Ref: 201108301343
Defect ID: 2516508
Last Edited: April 4th, 2013

Description:
When the Connection Points tab of a Deliverable's Properties dialog is displayed, an unhandled exception occurs.

The top and right-hand side of the Deliverable probably have nine or ten connection points.

Cause:
The position of the connection points isn't recognised properly, and more than the maximum of ten is being attributed to one side.

Workaround:
Visio's Connection Point tool can be used to delete one or more of the connection points so that the connection points can be reset through the Deliverable's Properties dialog.
  1. Click on the Visio 'Connection Points' tool (which may be immediately visible, or selected from the drop-down arrow adjacent to the 'Connector' tool).

  2. Click on one of the connection points on the right-hand side of the Deliverable to highlight it, and then press Delete.

  3. Right-click on the Deliverable > Properties...

  4. Click on the 'Connection Points' tab.

  5. Set the required number of connection points, but use fewer on the sides that gave the original error.

  6. Click OK to close the dialog.

  7. Re-open the Properties dialog, and click on the Connection Points tab to verify that the error does not re-occur.

  8. If the error does re-occur, repeat the procedure, but use fewer connection points.
