Drill-down not working in Visio 2010

Ref: JB201104110830
Last Edited: August 31st, 2011
Development Ref: 83
Fixed in PN 11.1
A drill-down to a page within the same file no longer works when the file is closed and re-opened. The drill-down was created in Visio 2010.
On the Navigation tab of the Activity's Properties dialog, drill-down behaviour is set to 'Link to document or reusable process', whereas it should be 'Drill-down (default)', but no hyperlink is set.
Visio 2010 stores the hyperlink sub-address in a different way from previous versions. This leads to a discrepancy between the hyperlink sub-address and the hyperlink sub-address cache custom property, which helps to determine what the drill-down behaviour should be.
Workaround 1:
Upgrade to Process Navigator 11.1, to be released on September 1st, 2011.
Workaround 2:
Drill down to an external file, which is recommended practice anyway. The hyperlink sub-address is then stored as it would be in previous versions of Visio.
Workaround 3:
Recreate the drill-down, and set the hyperlink sub-address directly in the ShapeSheet.
  1. Right-click the Activity > Properties.
  2. Click on the Navigation tab.
  3. Ensure drill-down behaviour is set to 'Drill-down (default)'.
  4. Click OK to close the dialog.
  5. Double-click on the Activity to drill down.
  6. Return the Activity's page.
  7. Click the Activity to select it.
  8. Developer > Show ShapeSheet (> Shape)
    (To enable this menu item:
  9. In the Hyperlink section, click in the hyperlink's SubAddress cell.
  10. In the Formula Bar, set the SubAddress to '="MyPageName"' (without single-quotes), where MyPageName is the target page, and should correspond to the value in the custom property, Prop.HyperlinkSubAddressCache.
  11. Close the ShapeSheet window.
  12. Test the drill-down.
Applies to:
  • Visio 2010
  • Process Navigator v10.1 and earlier
