There are a number of ways in which you can change the look and feel of your process map, either to fit in with corporate identity, or if you want to add colour as a way of representing other information.
One of the great strengths of Process Navigator is that it is built on the Visio platform. Therefore, the excellent formatting capabilities Visio already has can be used in your process maps.
From Visio’s Format menu, it is straightforward to alter the text format (font, size, etc.), the fill format (fill colour and pattern) and the line format (line colour and width pattern).
It is important to be consistent in the use of formats. Colour should be used to convey information and it should convey the same information across your organisation. For example, if you want to make bottleneck activities red, make sure this won’t be interpreted as a health and safety risk in a different part of the organisation.
You should always avoid the temptation to use formatting to make your map more attractive unless all maps employ the same scheme. For further details on customising your map, please refer to Customising Process Navigator
