To configure Process Navigator, right-click the drawing page of any Process Navigator drawing page and select Options.
Turning on the IDEF0 standard adds the IDEF0 tab to the Properties dialog of an Activity.
On drill-down, this option automatically adds the Process Owner and Process Manager fields to the Node, based on the last time these values were entered on the Node Properties dialog.
On drill-down, this option automatically adds the Author, Version, Revision, Last Revised, Last Revised By and Status fields to the Node, based on the last time these values were entered on the Node Properties dialog.
When the option to turn warnings on is selected, if the user tries to connect Deliverables together, or Activities together, the following warning appears:
If the option is not selected, Process Navigator makes no attempt to enforce the map logic. Note that this will make it much more difficult at a later stage to consolidate and analyse the process maps you create, so we strongly recommend that you do follow the map logic.
When adding properties to Activities, Deliverable or Nodes, the default is to have the property groups expanded. When this option is deselected, the property groups are not expanded as shown below.
This option has two settings once enabled; either ‘ID & Level’ or ‘Responsibility’ can be set. If theses are enabled then the process navigator shapes are automatically amended to include those details at the bottom of the shape:
ID & Level can be set from within the shape properties general tab and Responsibility is set from the properties tab of the shape properties by right clicking the shape and selecting the relevant tab.
This option enables you to view your process map without the progress panels as shown below.
For each of these files, use the Browse button to the right of the field to browse to the location of the file you require.
NOTE: The default location for the properties file is C:\Program Files\Triaster\Process Navigator. The default location for the template and stencil file is: C:\Program Files\Triaster\Process Navigator\Templates and Stencils.
The Properties file is used to populate the Properties screens available from the right-click of an Activity, Deliverable and Node. Customisation of the properties file is possible through XML and is described further in Customising Data Capture on page Error! Bookmark not defined..
The template file will enable you to use a customised template every time you open Process Navigator. For example, if you have customised a stencil and updated the template with the new stencil, then setting the file location within this dialog will load your new template every time you launch Process Navigator from the Start Menu. In addition, it will maintain the template through automated routines such as Drill-down and Generate Next Level.
TIP: File > New will still list the default template. However, if you save the customised template in the same location as the Mapping Edition.vtx (default), then it will list it alongside the Mapping Edition.vtx (default).
When Process Navigator performs an automated routine such as drill-down or Generate Next Level, it looks at the file’s document stencil for the shapes. In some cases, the shapes that are required for this automated routine are not available on the document stencil. You can use this dialog to browse to a location where the customised stencil is located. If Process Navigator cannot find the shape in the document stencil, then it will look for the location specified in this field and drop the shape from that stencil.
The Drill-Down tab lets you set options for when you drill down on an Activity or Deliverable.
This turns on the warning that appears when you double-click on an Activity or Deliverable. It helps prevent accidental drill-down when an inexperienced user double-clicks a shape by mistake.
This forces Process Navigator to delete orphan Deliverables when you drill down on an Activity. Turning this option off makes Process Navigator highlight orphans by colouring them red.
Turning this option on forces Process Navigator to recognise Deliverables that are not connected to an Activity as potential orphans.
Generally, a new Process Navigator page is named Map Page-1, Map Page-2, Map Page-3, etc. When this option is turned on, new pages are named after the corresponding Activity. For example, if the Activity was called "Produce Management Accounts" then on drill-down the page would also be named "Produce Management Accounts".
This option adds a shadow to a shape when it has an associated drill-down.
The Tip Windows tab lets you turn on or off the various tip windows that pop up when you drop certain elements. These options can also be turned off by selecting 'Don't show me again' on the various forms.
