HTML Reporting

HTML Reports
All Process Navigator reports are generated as HTML files and are saved automatically. Benefits over conventional reporting methods include:
  • You can always look back to previous versions of a report.
  • You can change the look and feel of the report by specifying your own style sheets.
  • No reporting software is required.
  • The reports can be loaded straight to an intranet.
  • The reports can hyperlink straight into the relevant process map or Visio document.

To set the report location where copies of your reports will be stored, select Tools > Options and select the Reports tab.

Every time a report is run, it is stored in the reports folder with a name given by ‘yyyymmdd Description’. In this way, the most recent reports will appear at the top of the list in the Explorer window when files are sorted by name.


Select Reports > Activity > General

This report lists by Activity the following items:

  • Description.
  • Inputs and Outputs.
  • Immediate children in the Activity hierarchy.
NOTE: All the other reports, Metrics , Health and Safety, Controls, Indicators, and Opportunities depend upon the data chosen in the Properties.txt file listed HERE


Select Reports > Deliverable > General

This report lists by Deliverable the following items:

  • Description.
  • Suppliers and Customers.
  • Immediate children in the Deliverable hierarchy.

Quality and Timeliness

Select Reports > Deliverable > Quality and Timeliness

This report lists by Deliverable the answers to the questions stated in Properties.txt file shown HERE.

Opinion Mismatch

Select Reports > Deliverable > Opinion Mismatch

This report lists all Deliverables for which the supplier’s answers differ from the customer’s answers. Properties.txt allows you to choose which questions this gives.

It compares the answers to the property questions on matched Deliverables across individual maps. The business analyst could clearly open up communication channels in this instance so that the individuals concerned gain a better understanding of their supplier/customer responsibilities.

Unused Outputs

This report has been replaced by a new XSLT report combining the Unused Outputs and Unsourced Inputs reports into one report. Please see Other Reports for more information.

Unsourced Inputs

This report has been replaced by a new XSLT report combining the Unused Outputs and Unsourced Inputs reports into one report. Please see Other Reports on page 125 for more information.

Exporting HTML Reports to Microsoft Excel

Process Navigator has the ability to export HTML reports to Microsoft Excel. This is useful if you want to sort the data within the HTML report.

To export the data within the HMTL report to Microsoft Excel:

Generate an HTML report from within Process Navigator. From within the Report Viewer, right-click somewhere inside the report (other than hyperlinks) and select Export to Excel from the menu.

NOTE: If you manipulate the data within Excel, this data cannot be automatically transferred back to the process maps. Any changes to data should be from within the process maps.
