What's Changed in Process Navigator 11

Generating Maps from Excel

Process Navigator has been able to generate process maps in Visio VDX format from Excel files since version 4.6. However, in version 11, the required Excel file format has changed, and maps will no longer be generated from Excel XML files. If you have such files, and wish to generate maps from them in Process Navigator 11, then resave them as one of the supported file types.

Importing Properties from Excel

The facility to import property data from Excel was introduced in Process Navigator 11. Process elements in an Excel file are matched to those in the associated Visio file through unique identifiers: shapes through a 'GUID' column (this only applies to 11.1.x, it has been dropped in later versions), pages through a 'MapPage UID' column. This information is required to be able to use the Import Properties feature, but it won't be in Excel files created by exporting maps in Process Navigator 10 and earlier. If you have such files, you can replace them with ones created by exporting Visio maps to Excel in Process Navigator 11. If the appropriate file format is used, then the same Excel file could be used to update a map's properties or regenerate the map.
