Introduction

By default, an HTML export only publishes those maps (i.e. Visio VDX files) that are newer than their associated HTML publications; it's usually unnecessary to republish a map if it hasn't changed since the last publication. However, there may be reason to force the publication of a map, even if it hasn't changed: for example, to display additional information on Activities, the visibility of which is a configuration of the Process Navigator application, not the property of maps.

Configuring the Publication to Publish all Maps

The tasks performed by an automated publication are defined in the Publication Tasks XML file, commonly named 'publication_tasks.xml', and found in the 'Config Files\[Library Name]\[Site name]' folder, e.g.

"C:\Program Files\Triaster\PublicationServer\Config Files\ProcessLibrary\Live"

There will such a file for each site (Live, Prelive and Sandpit) of each library.

To configure the publication to publish all maps:
  1. Open the Publication Tasks XML file in Notepad.

  2. Turn off Word Wrap - Format > ensure 'Word Wrap' is not ticked.

  3. Find the line that defines the Export to HTML task.
    e.g.
    <Task Type="EXPORTTOHTML" TargetRoot="c:\triaster\processlibraries\processlibrary\live\html" BackUp="false" BackUpRoot="C:\triaster" AddHeaderFooter="false" HeaderPage="" FooterPage="" AddMetaData="false" IncludePropertyValues="false" ConvertHyperlinkCircles="true" UseVisio2002MouseOver="true" UseDescriptionMouseOver = "true" ExportModifiedFilesOnly="true" />

  4. Change the 'ExportModifiedFilesOnly' attribute.

    <Task Type="EXPORTTOHTML" TargetRoot="c:\triaster\processlibraries\processlibrary\live\html" BackUp="false" BackUpRoot="C:\triaster" AddHeaderFooter="false" HeaderPage="" FooterPage="" AddMetaData="false" IncludePropertyValues="false" ConvertHyperlinkCircles="true" UseVisio2002MouseOver="true" UseDescriptionMouseOver = "true" ExportModifiedFilesOnly="false" />

  5. Save and close the file.
NOTE: There are likely to be at least two such Export to HTML tasks: for the main website publication, and for the menu page publication, both of which will be listed in the Publication Tasks file. Amend one or more tasks, as appropriate.

Comments

Publishing all maps will usually mean significantly increased publication times, so it's recommended that this configuration is reversed when all maps have been successfully republished.
