Create a template library in Triaster Server 11 and later

Introduction

Triaster Server can create clones of existing process libraries and sites. An empty library could be a convenient template for creating new libraries, the cloning of which is facilitated by its minimum content.

Although a sample library is installed with Triaster Server, it will be overwritten in upgrades of the server, so isn't a reliable template.

Creating a template library

The Triaster Sample Library, installed with Triaster Server 11 and later, will be the basis of the template library.

Overview

  1. Create the template library by cloning the Triaster Sample Library.
  2. Delete any Visio-based menu pages and maps from the new library's map store so that it's empty.
  3. Configure the new library.
  4. Publish the new, empty library, primarily to create empty data files on which the Triaster Tools are based to avoid errors when running those tools.
  5. Apply any branding-related files and configurations.

Details

Create the template library

  1. Open the Triaster Sample Library.
    http://<Host>/ProcessLibraries%202011/Triaster%20Sample%20Library
  2. Open Library Explorer.
    1. In the navigation bar, click 'ADMINISTRATION'.
    2. Log in.
    3. In the left-hand pane, click 'Library Explorer'.
  3. In the middle pane, click 'Triaster Sample Library'.
  4. In the right-hand pane, click 'Clone'.
  5. Name the new library 'Template Library' (or a suitable alternative).
  6. Click 'Create Library'.

Delete Visio-based content

  1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the new library's map store, e.g.
    C:\Triaster\TriasterServer2011\MapStore\Template Library
  2. Retain the following, and any other top-level folders, within 'Template Library', but delete all other content.
    2 maps for review\
    3 master\
    menu pages\
      prelive + live
      sandpit\

Configure the template library

  1. Open the Triaster Server Configuration Utility, typically:
    C:\Triaster\TriasterServer2011\Services\PubServerConfig.exe
  2. Configure the library- and site-scoped settings on the following tabs:
Publication Settings Site Level 1 (Web Server)
Publication Settings Site Level 2 (Web Server)
    (Note: see here for details.)

Publish the template library

For each of the library's sites (typically Live, Prelive and Sandpit):
  1. Open the template library site.
    http://<Host>/ProcessLibraries%202011/Template%20Library/<Site>
(substituting '<Host>' with your server's name or alias, and '<Site>' with the site name.)
  2. In the navigation bar, click 'ADMINISTRATION'.
  3. Log in.
  4. In 'Publication Tasks', click 'PUBLISH'.

Apply branding

Custom files, such as home pages and style sheets, that distinguish the look of a process library should be applied to this template library. For details, click here.
